☕️ MetaMask Tax Panic 🦊 😨

There’s been a mass panic over the weekend as false rumors circulated that crypto wallet platform MetaMask was taking taxes out of users’ transactions.

This claim certainly whipped the crypto community into a fervor, causing some users to call MetaMask’s policies, “THE DEATH OF DECENTRALIZATION.”

Consensys, the company behind MetaMask, took to Twitter to end the speculation once and for all about their terms of use.

“Thank goodness I can trust MetaMask,” said one crypto trader as he scrolled through his phone receiving ads for products he’d been thinking about buying, but never expressed any interest in out loud.

☕️ Truckers, Vaccines, and Bitcoin? 🚚 🪙

At the Bitcoin 2023 conference in Miami, Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy explained the unorthodox journey of how he came to embrace Bitcoin.

During COVID, when Canadian truckers were protesting against vaccine mandates, the government retaliated by freezing their bank accounts.

This was when RFK’s eyes were opened to the importance of decentralization.

“When I witnessed this cataclysm, this devastating use of government repression, I realized for the first time how free money is as important to freedom as free expression,” said Kennedy. “As president, I will make sure that your right to hold and use Bitcoin is inviolable.”

Kennedy also showed off the tinfoil hat he created to protect himself against 5G after he was inspired by a rousing Qanon speech from an uncle at the Kennedy Thanksgiving.

☕️ Store Crypto in Your Old Gameboy? 🪙 🎮

The latest trend in cold wallets may come as a huge surprise, as there may already be one gathering dust in your parents’ attic.

That’s right, crypto startup Keyp is creating a program that will turn Gameboys into cold wallets called “Game Wallets.”

The fun doesn’t end there, your seed phrases will be generated through interactions with NPCs and quests. The look and feel of the entire experience has been described as “Pokémon-like.”

“Our primary focus at Keyp is making Web3 accessible and safe for everyone with tools like social logins and extra security layers for wallets,” said founder Joseph Schiarizzi. “Game Wallet is a fun project and extension of that.”

And the experience will be decidedly user-friendly as most problems can still be fixed by blowing into the cartridge.

Bitcoin Millionaires Read These Books 📚🧠

Every couple months you’ll see some CEO opening up about their staggering monthly reading list.

And we want to scoff at the titles, usually relatively short and all along the veins of self-help or get rich quick books.

But what people are reading matters. Books are practical wisdom that speed up mental processes and even inform how you think.

And if the richest among us are all reading, don’t we want to know what they’re reading?

Well, the richest in traditional finance and crypto’s brightest stars may be attending different schools.

But we’ve reached out to some of the richest investors and crypto professionals and saw some trends in their reading material, which we’ve compiled into a handy list, here:

Bitcoin Billionaires by Ben Mezrich

It’s no surprise that Bitcoin billionaires would want to read about…. Bitcoin billionaires. Ben Mezrich, author of the Social Network, recounts the Winkelvoss twins' legal battles with Facebook and their eventual redemption arc and explosion onto the crypto scene in the rise of their crypto exchange, Gemini.

The Hard Thing About Hard Things: Building a Business When There Are No Easy Answers by Ben Horowitz

Ben Horowitz’s account of how he built his tech empire from the ground up may not be explicitly about crypto, but this underdog story of the entrepreneurial spirit has an honesty and practical wisdom that are invaluable.

The Inner Game of Tennis: The Classic Guide to the Mental Side of Peak Performance by W. Timothy Gallwey

Not so much a guide to the game of tennis but an exploration into the sports psychology of peak performance. These are lessons not only to bring onto the tennis court, but ways to achieve master focus that can benefit you in any sport, profession, or goal.

Principles by Ray Dalio

This is an entire series by Ray Dalio with entries such as Principles: Your Guided Journal or Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order: Why Nations Succeed and Fail are worth your time, but we want to draw your attention to Principles: Life and Work. In this book, Dalio covers radical transparency and radical truth as he explains the best ways that managers can build strong teams and determine individuals skills.

The Book of Satoshi: The Collected Writings of Bitcoin Creator Satoshi Nakamoto by Phil Champagne.

And now we’ll end our reading list where it started, with a crypto-dedicated tome. This book is a must-have for any student of Bitcoin’s greatest mystery. It’s a comprehensive collection of every post or comment ever made by the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto.

Now that we’ve given you the reading list of Bitcoin billionaires, you may be wondering what these books have in common?

And the truth is, they don’t really have very much in common at all. They cover a wide array of disciplines, perspectives, and styles.

In fact, Bitcoin millionaires don’t have very much in common themselves other than one, crucial trait.

And it’s that trait that drives them to read books like these.

They’re always learning. Always gobbling up information and strategies to improve themselves and their operations.

And if you’re as serious about learning as the men and women who are shaping crypto…

We can’t help but recommend our educational course, 1-800-Bitcoin.

At $67, 1-800-Bitcoin is significantly cheaper than the cost of adding all of these books to your collection.

We have a comprehensive, crypto education just waiting for you to explore.

And hey, why not opt into our course and then get all these books for free at your local library? Remember, the library is your friend.

Happy reading!

Meme of the Day

Don't mind us... Just rummaging through our childhood belongings...

Crypto 101

Seed Phrase: This is the same as your twelve word recovery phrase and you’ll often see those two wordings used interchangeably as you read about crypto.

Your “seed” or “recovery” phrase is unique to you and you may have several, as each wallet will have a different phrase required to access it.

Despite all of crypto’s technical advances, there’s still no more secure way to store your information for these protocols than writing it down on a good old-fashioned piece of paper. (Bonus points for storing multiple papers in different places!)

The Last Sip

We’re as excited as anyone to potentially have a truly crazy Kennedy in the next presidential race. Here are three more takes we expect to hear from Robert F. Kennedy on the campaign trail.

  • Birds aren’t real.

  • The trees are actually telephone poles.

  • The telephone poles are actually trees.
